You’ll notice that my week 16 actually spans two weeks. We were out of town from 6/12 through 6/20, so I didn’t get a chance to weigh/measure myself last week. Four of our days were spent traveling to and from Nauvoo IL, so it was a perfect time try the Keto diet on the road.
I actually don’t mind driving on long road trips. Before Keto, I would gear up for road trips by getting a two-pound bag of Spitz (Dill Pickle Flavored) and a 44 ounce Pepsi. I loved rolling down the road cracking my seeds and taking a big’ol swig of Pepsi to wash the seeds down. It seemed like I went through the Pepsi pretty fast though. Every time we stopped for gas or to go to the bathroom, I’d refill my 44 ounces of “Nectar from the Gods” and be ready for another seed-crackin, Pepsi-drinking experience cruising down the freeway.
The Keto road trip was definitely a change. Instead of getting a Pepsi at every stop, I broke my drink consumption into stages. Stage 1 was a Keto OS Max drink to start the day off. Stage 2 was WATER. After emptying my Keto Drink, Kelli refilled my traveling mug with water. Drinking water was great except that my bathroom frequency increased :/ Stage 3 was a 44 ounce diet soda. I’m not a big fan of diet soda drinks, but the caffeine helped me through those drowsy periods. Stage 4 was more water, and stage 5 was another Keto Drink. Traveling to North Platte, NE on the first day, I would have consumed 220 ounces of Pepsi had I not made the Keto change: making these deliberate/planned Keto decisions has helped me out tremendously.
